Doris Day was born Doris Mary Ann Kappelhof on 4/3/1924 in Cincinnati, Ohio. As a child she had hopes of becoming a professional dancer, but a serious car accident . Doris Kappelhof became Doris Day, taking the name from one of her favorite songs, 'Day After Day'. In 44, Doris had her first world wide hit,
'Sentimental Journey'. Doris was persuaded by those close to her to make her first film, Warner Bros. Romance On The High Seas. Doris made her last film With Six You Get Eggroll in 68. Doris now lives in the town of Carmel, California, U.S.A., and devotes much of her time to the Doris Day Animal Foundation, an organization dedicated to the well being of animals. She also part owns The Cypress Inn, an animal friendly hotel in Carmel.
