Biography: Dennis Franz was born on 10/28/1944 and served 11 months in Vietnam after graduating from Wright Junior College in Chicago. He got his acting debut in the play "Cops" and eventually moved to L.A. to further his acting career. Franz was soon cast in such television series as "Hill Street Blues" and "Bay City Blues" and even appeared in the movie "Die Hard 2." However, he is best known for his role as Det. Andy Sipowicz on the popular television drama "NYPD Blue."
