Biography: Actor Morgan Freeman was born on 6/01/1937 in Memphis, Tennessee and didn't land his first lead role in a movie until the age of fifty. Though he used to star on the children's television show "The Electric Company," Freeman has made inlets into the distinguished worlds of cinema and theater as well. He is ranked #31 on Empire Magazine's "Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time," and is a three-time Academy Award nominee, the recipient of three Obie awards, and has been nominated for a Tony Award. Freeman also made his directing debut with the critically acclaimed film "Bopha!"
