Marcia Gay Harden began working in theater in Washington, D.C., where she received two Helen Hayes Award nominations for performances in Crimes of the Heart and The Miss Firecracker Contest. She starred on Broadway in Angels in America, for which she received Drama Desk and Tony Award nominations, and a Theater World Award for Best Actress. Harden was born in Tokyo, Japan, and holds a B.A. in Theater from the University of Texas and a M.F.A. in Theater from New York University. She made her feature film debut in the Coen brothers' gangster drama Miller's Crossing (1990). Since then, she has starred in the films Safe Passage (1994) and Late for Dinner (1991), held her own amid a bevy of Oscar®-winning actresses (Shirley MacLaine, Jessica Tandy, and Kathy Bates) in Used People (1992), and received critical acclaim for her portrayal of the erotic anti-heroine in Crush (1992). Harden portrayed a classic Hollywood beauty, Ava Gardner, in the TV biopic miniseries Sinatra (1992). Her other television work includes Convict Cowboy, Talking With, Good Housekeeping, and Fever.
