Biography: Sir Phillip Anthony Hopkins was born in Port Talbot, West Glamorgan, Wales, UK on 12/31/1937. In 65 his big break came after becoming an understudy for Sir Laurence Olivier, and from there he went on to star in a number of British movies. He went through the next couple of decades starring in many high-profile movies, but his most notable role came in 91 when he played Hannibal "The Cannibal" Lecter in the film "The Silence of the Lambs." From there Hopkins starred in such movies as "Howards End," "Remains of the Day," "The Edge," and "The Mask of Zorro."
