NOVEMBER 11, 2002, THE SHRINE AUDITORIUM, LOS ANGELES, CA.
The 20th release of Ian Flemming's James Bond adventure from MGM and Eon Productions had its' first screening in Los Angeles complete with all the trimmings. A lavish unspooling was held at the historic Shrine Auditorium in the heart of the USC area, with fencing extras and ice sculptures in keeping with the theme of the film. Standing proudly on the blue hued carpet was suave debonair Welshman Pierce Brosnan followed by his cast including Halle Berry, Rosamund Pike, Rick Yune, Toby Stephens, Michael Madsen, Will Yun Lee and director Lee Tamahori. In addition to the cast, some 007 alumni and other notables such as Jane Seymour, Jonathan Pryce, Julianna Marguiles, Tia Carerra, Eddie Furlong, Natasha Henstridge, Sean Astin, Jill Hennessy, Frankie Muniz, Alicia Silverstone, Jay Hernandez, David Chokachi, Tim Allen, Chris Klein, Kenny G, Sara Rue, Venus Williams, Tara Reid, Charlotte Ross, Kristy Swanson, The Osbournes and many more! According to advance buzz on the film, many references are made to past Bond outings as a homage to its 40th Anniversary with the obvious one being the swimwear Halle Berry dons in a nod to Ursula Andress in DR. NO.

In what has become a tradition in all James Bond films the movie opens with an exciting hovercraft chase that takes place in the Korean neutral zone resulting in the capture of 007. After his return to active duty our favorite spy meets up with Jinx (Halle Berry) and tangles with Miranda Frost (Rosamund Pike) while hot on the heels of meglomanic Gustav Graves (Toby Stephens) and his twisted henchman Zao (Rick Yune). Bond is then forced to find a secret weapon of mass destruction at the lair of Graves, hidden in Iceland in a fortress made entirely of ice. The peril concludes at the point of the film's inception back in Korea to a surprising revelation!
