TOP STORY:
Transition has gone well for new chief
The new Richmond Police Chief is finally getting settled in and said the transition has gone very smooth. “The staff has made it extremely easy for me to get settled in and make the changes I wanted to get done,” Richmond Police Chief Terri Williams said. “The staff has been wonderful and receptive to any changes I’ve wanted made. We are becoming a progressive, professional department.” Williams said the first thing that she focused on was cleaning up the department and getting work stations located for everyone so the work flow could go
smoother. “We got rid of some file cabinets that weren’t needed and went through and cleaned out anything we didn’t need,” Williams said.
During the cleaning, a decibel meter was found. “We will get some use out of the decibel meter when we get noise disturbance calls on things like loud stereos,” Williams said. The biggest push Williams is making
concerns public relations. “I want our officers to be known by the public,” Williams said. “We are going to be more active in community groups and get more involved with the residents of Richmond.”
