The 2001 American Cinematheque Award: The Moving Picture Ball

The 2001 American Cinematheque Award was bestowed upon actor Nicolas Cage in a gala event hosted by his AMOS AND ANDREW costar Samuel L. Jackson that was taped for broadcast on TNT . The American Cinematheque, housed at the historic Egyptian Theater in Hollywood honors, "an extraordinary artist in the entertainment industry currently making a significant contribution to the Art of the Moving Picture." Musical guest included Tom Waits with award presentation by Jim Carrey, proceeds from the event go to funding the year round costs of running public film and video programs. Nicolas Cage received an Oscar for his performance in LEAVING LAS VEGAS.
