For those of us that grew up in the 80-90s Heavy Metal days, this was a trip down memory lane. I find it kind of ironic thought that they chose Marky, Mark the rapping sixpack stomach wielding wannabe as the personification of an era long gone. Joining star Mark Wahlberg was his costar Jennifer Aniston and cast including Dagmara Dominczyk, Brian Van Ark, Jeff Pilson,

Zakk Wylde, Blas Elias, Stephan Jenkins and writer John Stockwell. Also on hand was a mixture of celebs and rockers such as Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow, Brad Pitt, Mario Van Peebles, Marina Sirtis, David Foster, Teri Polo, members of Kiss, Poison, Guns N Roses, Def Leppard, Dokken and bands Powerman 5000, Beautiful Creatures, Orgy, Everclear and Korn.

Mark Wahlberg is Chris Cole, the lead singer of a tribute band to fictitious rockers Steel Dragon. Borrowing a page from Judas Priest Cole is then asked to take over the lead vocals when Steel Dragon's frontman bails, the night he is kicked out of his tribute band. His dreams finally come true after repairing copy machines by day and rocking by night. His girlfriend Emily (Jennifer Aniston) believed in him even though he still lived at home with his parents, and is along for his sky rocketing trip to the high life but is it enough? The tagline, "The story of a wannabe, who got to be" seems fitting.
