"Forget Scary Movie 15...THIS is the parody to watch this year!"
I recently got the privilege of watching the full length version of "Date or Disaster". I must admit, I was laughing so hard, I had to watch it twice! This is NOT your typical dating show people...this is a very well made parody of the dating shows you see on late night TV. There is a reason those shows are on "late", they are so ridiculous and degrading, that's the only time slot the networks would allow! But, Date or Disaster goes beyond that point of ridiculous and degrading and mocks these dating shows in the most hilarious ways!
Filmed just like a TV show, there is a host "Touch Johnson" played by Scrubs' Robert Maschio, who is not afraid to step in himself if the "date" doesn't go so well! "Touch" is followed by camera-man "Donny" (Jeff Tschida of MTV's "Undressed"). The duo are willing to do anything to get a fight started, the girls undressed or better yet-wrestling, all for the sake of "the ratings".
The daters in the show are just as silly! The female is a sock-puppeteering wannabe action star (Rachael Rowan) and wants nothing to do with the blind date and his grotesque eating habits, his inability to portray his sockpuppet, in a rehearsal for Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet", in a realistic and moving way. The Male "pig eater" is played by Daniel Schweiger. He is by trade, a Gay Porn Director, and realizes, after overhearing a conversation, that he is actually "un-cool".
Needless to say, Daniel is not very happy with this label, and will go to any and all lengths to change himself to be "cool" and "get the girl". Danger and weapons are involved in Daniel's task, and the suspense builds...Will Daniel ever be cool?...Will someone be hurt or killed in the process of "finding the coolness"...Will Touch and Donny get higher ratings for this action packed sequence?
